Combine the best of Czech nature and culture in a day trip! Join our small group on a private excursion to the Koněprus Caves – the largest cave system in Bohemia, where Celtic druids once performed their rituals and medieval counterfeiters forged Czech groschen. Admire the beauty of countless limestone formations and small underground lakes. Visit the Karlštejn Castle, the residence of the Czech kings from the 14th century and the place where royal treasures, relics of saints and Czech crown jewels are kept. Afterwards, enjoy a three-course menu, a real Czech lunch and beer or local wine in a picturesque village right below the castle.
We will pick you up in our modern air-conditioned minivan between 8.00 and 8.30 at your accommodation in Prague. You will enjoy a scenic drive through the Czech countryside with an explanation from our guide, which lasts approximately 45 minutes. Our English-speaking guide will be happy to tell you everything you are interested in about culture, nature, history and everyday life in the Czech Republic.
After arriving at the Koněpruské caves southwest of Prague (a cultural monument of the Czech Republic in the Český karst protected area), you will take part in a tour of the largest underground cave system in Bohemia. Admire the majestic stalagmites and stalactites all around you. Learn about the ancient Celtic settlement that existed here. You will discover a 15th century money counterfeit workshop, hidden deep in the caves. You will visit the breathtaking limestone domes and halls and the unique Koněpruské roses.
Our next stop will be in the village of Karlštejn. From there we will go either by horse-drawn carriage or local transport to the castle and visit the residence of the medieval Bohemian kings from the 14th century, which protected the crown jewels, relics of saints and other royal treasures. We will admire art collections and paintings as well as a number of historical monuments and artifacts. The tour is conducted and lectured in English by a local guide in the residence of Emperor Charles IV, i.e. in the premises where the emperor actually stayed in the castle.
You will definitely appreciate the well-deserved lunch that follows. Enjoy the magic of traditional Czech cuisine. Taste one of the best beers in the world or the local Karlštejn wine. After a well-deserved three-course lunch menu in a local pub, we will visit the Big America quarry. We will stop at a viewpoint for pa picture and then head back to Prague.
