Visit Karlštejn Castle, built by Charles IV between 1348 and 1355 and now one of the most frequently-visited castles in the Czech Republic. It originally served to safeguard the royal treasures and the crown jewels and the archive of state documents. Following a 30 minute walk uphill to the castle gates, your guide will take you on an hour-long tour of the interior.
You'll hear about the history of the castle and the life of Charles IV, and the fine arts that flourished during his reign. This monumental feat of Gothic architecture is located approximately 38 kilometers southwest of Prague.
